REDISCOVERING
THE HISTORY OF ŁÓDŹ

Nowadays, it is almost impossible to find any obvious signs of rich and complicated history of Łódź, my hometown. There are no longer any Russian signboards, German newspapers or Jewish synagogues – typical for the period of 1821-1939, but not anymore.
I wanted to take the reader on a journey to the past, illustrating the book with prints of archive leaflets, posters, letters and newspapers, which I collected in various city archives. Unique structure of the book is also a metaphor of the complicated relationships between the four nations that had to coexist in the city of Łódź at the time – Poles, Jews, Germans and Russians.
Designed as a final project for my Master Degree in Graphic Design at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
